We talk about “Setting the Stage” as what parents do. Creating the environment – ’cause the Environment is the Teacher – right?
You are not setting the stage for an audience, saying “here’s where we are, and what’s going to happen.” You are setting things up for the actor – the child. You are not the director or the writer – the child is. You are not a critic, an audience member, or a performer. You want nothing, and have nothing at stake.
Sometimes, parents feel like they should be doing something.
If you want a role, here you go:
You are the wise mute stage hand. The one who sees everything, and appreciates effort. When you watch – totally empty, you become fulfilled. (and it’s more fun, and the time goes faster, and things work better).
Enjoy
